Commitment & Vision

VFP Therapies is a pharmaceutical startup operating in Rouen, Normandy, France.

Its core mission is the design and evaluation of innovative ingredients which are active in the treatment of brain related diseases.

VFP Therapies #1 priority is the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
Midterm VFP Therapies will focus on fighting against other diseases of the brain equally dramatic effects such as ischemia, cancer and rare diseases. These are all diseases against which medicine is currently very lacking.

The know-how of the company is based on the technology of vectorization of so-called ‘smart drugs', administered under a non-active form called bio-precursor.

Such drugs are able to reach the brain while causing limited side-effects on organs other than the brain itself. They only become active within the brain, where they are selectively acting on specific biological sites and hence inducing their therapeutic effect.

The R&D work performed so far within the company has already proven the concept both in vitro and on animals.

Two families of drug candidates are under development.

VFP Therapies is confident that they will lead to a significant quantum jump in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

VFP Therapies hold two families of patents via an exclusive and unlimited licensing agreement with INSA, Institut National des Sciences Appliquées, a major French academic engineer and research institute where Francis Marsais generated them. Patents WO2006/103120 and EP2013/13305088.0 (extension of first patent, filed in January 2013).

The company premises are located within the Institut de Recherche en Chimie Organique Fine (IRCOF), University of Rouen, Normandy, France where VFP Therapies have fully equipped laboratories:

  • Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Brucker 300 MHz
  • High field NMR spectrometers, 400, 500 and 600 MHz
  • UV and IR spectrographs
  • High definition mass spectrometers
  • Gas chromatographs with various detections including coupling to a mass spectrometer
